LANL DOE Sponsored TRAINING EVENT: February, 4–8 2013 ONLINE
Regional Hub: UW Bothell UW1-321 (Register Separately Due to Space Limitations)
Who Can Participate?: Cyber Defenders in DOE, other government agencies, critical infrastructure, and college students
Tracer FIRE (Forensic Incident Response Exercise) is a four-day even that aims to empower cyber security responders (cyber defenders in DOE, other government agencies, critical infrastructure, and college students) with skills and techniques to recognize and dissect nefarious network activity and malicious software. These events include parallel lab-oriented training tracks followed by a capture-the-flag contest to test newly acquired skills and knowledge in a challenging and motivating environment.
The exercise consists of 2 days of intensive training on a single subject, followed by a 2½-day game in which contestants are placed on a team and must use their new and existing skills to compete with other teams for points across multiple categories. Tracer FIRE is part of the Tracer series of events to build the cyber defense community.
