All ProQuest databases are down at the moment. This includes many of our historical newspapers and resources such as the MLA International Bibliography. We have no word yet on when access will be restored.

Access change: L’annee philologique

We currently have access to 2 interfaces for L’annee philologique. We will be phasing away from the publisher’s interface and moving to the Ebsco one.

Record changing is in process. Access to both interfaces will be available through the end of 2013.

Euromonitor Passport Markets & Sectors has been upgraded to the full Passport service. In addition to market and sector information for over 80 countries, users now also have access to additional country, industry, and consumer information.

Access remains limited to UW faculty, staff, students only.

Project MUSE ebooks now available

We have purchased the complete Project MUSE/UPCC ebook collection which gives DRM-free, unlimited access to more than 20,000 ebooks from over 80 university presses and scholarly publishers, including the UW Press. Publication dates are from 2000 and will continue through the end of 2013. The titles appear in the local catalog and UW Worldcat, and are hosted on the Project MUSE platform. Trial: Asian American drama

From Alexander Street Press, this resource is on trial now through 5/26/13.

This edition of Asian American Drama contains 252 plays by 42 playwrights, together with detailed, fielded information on related productions, theaters, production companies, and more.

Some 50% of these plays have never been published before. The database also includes selected playbills, production photographs and other ephemera related to the plays.

ArtStor to drop Java

We are pleased to announce an update that will eliminate the need for Java in the ARTstor Digital Library. In the near future, single image downloads will be delivered in zip files.

ARTstor has been using Java for downloads of individual images, but recently the U.S. Department of Homeland Security began recommending that Java be disabled due to security concerns. After our update, users who download single image files will receive a zip file that contains a JPEG image and an HTML file with the associated metadata. In addition to removing the need for Java, using zip will allow ARTstor to pursue other feature enhancements, such as additional options for image group downloads.

For some users, mainly those on PCs, it will be necessary to install software such as 7Zip to unzip their downloads. Please do take this time to make users at you institution aware of this impending change. We will of course be providing updated help documentation.If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact User Services at userservices@artstor.org.
