When you search for math course reserve materials, you may have some trouble finding what you are looking for. We know there are issues and we’re working on it! In the meantime, feel free to come by the library. We have an Excel spreadsheet list of course reserves organized by course number. Most of our course reserves are 4 hours, though some are 24 hours.
You may remember our announcements last spring about the pending launch of a new catalog, the UW Libraries Search. We implemented this system over the summer and experienced a number of significant technical difficulties along the way. We expected the product to be further along in development and that many key problems would be resolved by the end of summer quarter. Given our strong commitment to providing access to our collections, we determined that the new UW Libraries Search would not adequately serve user needs for the 2013-2014 academic year. We have returned to a previous catalog, UW WorldCat, as the primary search tool for the coming academic year, and will offer UW Libraries Search as a beta alternative with the expectation that it will be complete by next summer. We appreciate your patience throughout this process.
In other news, we are pleased to announced our newly redesigned Libraries website! It features a fresh, clean look and streamlined navigation to our most popular services and sources. It also allows access to the Libraries from any device.
SPSS: UW License Renewed; Get Through UWare
The UW’s licensing agreement with IBM for the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) has been renewed. The UW’s SPSS 21 annual subscription is available to UW faculty, staff, and all students, but must be renewed each year. The UW’s SPSS 19 perpetual license does not need to be renewed, but is available only to UW faculty, staff, and graduate students (not undergraduates). Both may be used on UW-owned or leased computers and personal home computers. UW-IT manages the license, and offers the software through UWare.

Access to your library account information is not available during the migration to our new library system. Your library account information should be available in the new system on/after June 24.
At approximately 5pm on Tuesday, June 18, we must temporarily disable the ability to request UW or Summit items for office or inter-campus delivery as well as all Interlibrary Loan and Desktop Delivery services. This must be done to prepare for the New UW Libraries Search system, which will go live on June 24. Requesting should be available in the new system on/after June 24.
