New Troubleshooting Entries: Apple iWeb and MySQL Port Changes

By nikky

In  light of recent support questions, I’ve added two new entries to our web publishing troubleshooting page. Highlights include:

iWeb Cannot Directly Upload to public_html/student_html Folders

Apple iWeb does not properly handle symbolic links and cannot directly upload to your public_html or student_html folder.

This is actually an issue I’ve been tackling with for a while now, and the Apple forums are vague enough that I can’t find many references to similar issues. However, after feedback from more customers, I’ve concluded that this is a real issue and that there is no “fix” for this issue, only a (thankfully easy) workaround.

I have been getting sporadic reports that iWeb 2011 does work in some cases, but will occasionally delete your public_html symbolic link. This, of course, can be recreated.
