Electronic Resources (UW Library)

How to create your own Library Electronic Resources links

  1. Start with the off-campus proxy library link
    http://offcampus.lib.washington.edu/login?url=
  2. Identify the resource link. The two most commonly used are
    AccessMedicine example http://accessmedicine.mhmedical.com/content.aspx?bookid=500&sectionid=41026576
Clinical Key – do NOT use the URL displayed in your browser.
Nikki Dettmar (snydern@uw.edu) can assist with locating book & chapter Durable URLs that are subject to change.
  3. Combine the proxy and resource links to create a library electronic resource link
    http://offcampus.lib.washington.edu/login?url=http://accessmedicine.mhmedical.com/content.aspx?bookid=500&sectionid=41026576
  4. For resources other than AccessMedicine, AccessPharmacy, and ClinicalKey please check with Nikki. The URL in your Seattle campus-based browser may not be accurate.

Canvas Design Tips

  • Combine the proxy and resource links in a text document
  • Copy the library electronic resource link and test in several Internet browsers
    • Safari often has issues with the off-campus proxy links – we recommend students with Macs use a different browser
  • Use the library electronic resource link within a Canvas Content page for best display
  • Library electronic resource links can break due to vendor/book edition changes
