HOW OFTEN DOES FACULTY MEET TO VOTE ON NEW APPOINTMENTS?

Once a person is recommended for an appointment in the Department of Pathology, their CV and letters of recommendation are reviewed by one or more of the departmental committees (Teaching and Training, Clinical Service, or Research). The decision on which committee reviews an appointment is determined by the Chair and/or the Assistant to the Chair.  Committees are responsible for sending the departmental Appointment, Advancement, and Promotion Committee (AAP Committee) a short recommendation. In some circumstances, namely when an appointment is being proposed by the Dean of Academic Affairs, the appointment may bypass the departmental committee review and go straight to review by the AAP Committee. Once the AAP Committee reviews the appointment, the AAP Committee and faculty at large vote on the appointment. After receiving the outcome of the voting, the Chair will make his/her recommendation for the appointment to the Dean of the School of Medicine.
