University of Washington Tour Choir, a group of 35 grad and undergrad students, toured Estonia and Latvia in the summer of 2013. They were the only American choir invited to participate in the Latvian International Music Song Festival which included a chorus of 16,000 Latvians from across the country.

University of Washington Tour Choir, a group of 35 grad and undergrad students, toured Estonia and Latvia in the summer of 2013. They were the only American choir invited to sing in a chorus of 16,000 Latvians, as part of their Latvian International Song and Dance Festival.

University of Washington Seattle, with its population of over 40,000 students, has a rich tradition of excellence in the choral and vocal fields.  Students are able to join a wide variety of choirs (seven in all) that have won performance and recording awards regionally and nationally, while touring internationally.

In the area of vocal performance, students are able to participate in yearly full-scale opera productions, opera workshop and masterclasses with visiting artists.  In the 2016-17 year, UW students prepared roles under internationally renowned music director Stephen Stubbs for a production of Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas.

The UW choral/vocal faculty consists of Dr. Geoffrey Boers,  Dr. Giselle Wyers, Dr. Steven Demorest, Professor Thomas Harper and Dr. Kari Ragan.
