Department: Office for the Advancement of Engineering Teaching & Learning (ET&L), College of Engineering

General Duties/Description: The mission of ET&L is to improve teaching and learning in the UW College of Engineering. ET&L’s instructional services provide diverse development opportunities tailored to the needs of engineering faculty. The successful candidate will help support the instructional development activities of our office. This person will work with the Director and other instructional development staff, with primary responsibilities including collecting, analyzing, and inputting formative assessment data. They may also be involved in developing electronic and paper teaching resources for engineering faculty, researching teaching issues, aiding in designing workshops on teaching issues, developing assessment plans and syllabi, and preparing related publications, including presentation materials and curricula. This person may also have some design and maintenance responsibilities for the ET&L formative assessment database and work to develop its functionality as a teaching resource.

Requirements: The position is open to doctoral graduate students in the College of Engineering at the University of Washington. Ideal applicants will have a passion for educational improvement, as well as excellent writing, document organization, and personal communication skills. Ideal applicants will also have experience in one or more areas related to engineering education or learning science research. Experience with database development (e.g., Access) and web development are desired.

Salary: This is an Academic Student Employee (ASE) position governed by the UAW Contract and paid in accordance with the TA/RA Salary Schedule associated with the student’s academic department.

Tuition: This position includes a tuition waiver.

Duration: This appointment is for three quarters, from September 16, 2016, through June 15, 2017.
