Traffic Management, Inc., is currently looking for an Engineering Associate I or II. They are looking for someone who has experience drafting ans is comfortable using AutoCAD. See below for job descriptions. The requisitions are also posted online.

Engineering Associate I

  • FLSA: Non-Exempt
  • Position Title: Engineering Associate I
  • Reports to: Engineering Manager / Operations Manager
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: No
  • Effective Date: 03/21/2016

Job Summary

Work under the direction of the Engineering Department Management and with the Engineering Department as a whole to provide TMI customers with quality traffic control plans within the required timeframe.

Essential Duties:

  • Prepare base plans
  • Provide traffic control layouts
  • Perform plan production
  • Perform project site verification to assist with base plans and/or traffic control layouts
  • Drive TMI vehicles to job-sites and perform job-site analysis including taking photographs
  • Coordinate with Engineering Assistant and/or Manager dealing with work distribution
  • Prepare plan revisions based on customer and/or public agency feedback
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge:

  • Active knowledge of the Windows environment
  • Active knowledge of the Office Suite (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Active knowledge of Google Earth, Google Maps and Thomas Guide
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of small/minor construction documents and how to read them
  • Knowledge of traffic control requirements

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to learn TMI specific database program (TMSoft)
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to focus on multiple projects throughout the workday
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong scheduling skills
  • Maintain a positive work environment
  • Resourceful problem solving skills
  • Possess a valid Class C driver’s license

 

Equipment Operated:

  • Workstation
  • Office equipment (plotter, printer, copy machine, etc.)
  • Company vehicle
  • Digital camera

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Requires remaining in a seated position for prolonged periods of time
  • Requires lifting up 20lb
  • Requires repetitive movement
  • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less
  • Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)

Engineering Associate II

  • FLSA: Non-Exempt
  • Position Title: Engineering Associate II
  • Reports to: Engineering Manager / Operations Manager
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: No
  • Effective Date: 11-02-15              

Job Summary

Work under the direction of the Engineering Department Management and with the Engineering Department as a whole to provide TMI customers with quality traffic control plans within the required timeframe. Provide assistance to Engineering Associate I co-workers as assigned.

Essential Duties:

  • Prepare base plans
  • Provide traffic control layouts
  • Perform plan production
  • Perform project site verification to assist with base plans and/or traffic control layouts
  • Drive TMI vehicles to job-sites and perform job-site analysis including taking photographs
  • Coordinate with Engineering Assistant and/or Manager dealing with work distribution
  • Prepare plan revisions based on customer and/or public agency feedback
  • Prepare complex base plans
  • Provide complex traffic control layouts including multi-phase and multi-jurisdictional plans
  • Perform complex project site verification to assist with complex base plans and/or complex traffic control layouts
  • Assist with plans produced by an Engineering Associate I with regards to plan checking and/or design assistance
  • Assist with training of Engineering Associates I
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of Google Earth, Google Maps and Thomas Guide
  • A strong proficiency using AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of large construction documents and how to read them
  • Advanced knowledge of traffic control requirements including k-rail design
