Position Opening: UW Training and Education Coordinator- Health & Wellness


Health & Wellness is hiring a Training and Education Coordinator.  The Health & Wellness Training & Education Coordinator is dedicated to expanding the reach of peer education on campus on a variety of student health issues, including sexual assault prevention/education, alcohol and other drug education, mental health and suicide intervention, and other health and wellness topics through the Peer Health Education Program. The Peer Education program aims to bridge the gap between students and campus support resources through peer-facilitated workshops, events, and programs. 


Program Administration and Development
•Plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive Peer Health Educator Training Program, utilizing evidence-based approaches to sexual assault prevention/education, alcohol and other drugs, mental health, and suicide intervention and other health and wellness topics.
•Plan, develop, and teach a Peer Health Educator class.
•Conduct needs and capacity assessments on a regular basis using a variety of methods including key informant interviews, surveys, discussion groups, etc. within target populations.
•Assess data and findings to design, implements, and evaluate the impact of best practice and evidence based interventions and strategies.
•Prepare an annual budget request for the program, including applying for Student Activity Fee (SAF) funding and grant opportunities.

Peer Health Educators (PHE) Management
•Recruit, hire, train, and supervise the Peer Health Educator Leadership Team of approximately five student employees. Process semimonthly payroll in accordance with department and University policy and procedures. Manage employees and schedules to meet University student employee requirements.
•Work with the Peer Health Leaders to coordinate workshop scheduling on campus
•Recruit and provide ongoing training to the Peer Health Educator volunteer staff of approximately 80 student.

•Engage and cultivate relationships with students and faculty to make sure programming and educational materials are inclusive and representative of diverse populations.
•Collaborate with campus partners to extend the reach and visibility of the Peer Health Educator Program and other health and wellness programs campus wide.
•Implement authentic community engagement practices to ensure successful program execution.

Health & Wellness Department Contributions
•Work collaboratively and as a part of the Health & Wellness team on joint projects, staff meetings, grant/funding proposals.
•Serve on committees and panels as a Health & Wellness Representative.
•Other duties as assigned by the Director of Health & Wellness.
