Conference Travel Funding

The UWSOM has a Student Conference Travel Award to provide support to medical students to attend a regional, national, or international conference. Awarded recipients will receive monetary support (through a reimbursement) to attend a regional, national, or international meeting, workshop, or conference. The award may go towards either transportation (e.g. gas or airfare) or towards the conference registration fee. Students must submit an application to be considered. Refer to this website for more information including application form, eligibility, deadlines, etc.

An announcement will be made at the beginning of each Fall and Winter quarter that this conference travel funding is available.

Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS) Travel Grants

The Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS) offers funding to qualifying individuals’ travel expenses for active conference participation in the US and abroad. GPSS travel grants are up to $300 for conferences in the US, and $500 for international conferences. Refer to this website for more information including eligibility, and the application process. Active participation (presenting a paper or poster, chairing a session or panel, etc.) at an academic conference is required and proof of acceptance is required with this application (see below). Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 to be considered.

Help Our Students Travel (HOST)

UW Alumni created a program called Help Our Students Travel, or HOST, where students traveling for conferences can receive free lodging from UWSOM alumni. Students benefit from free lodging and can also hear from alumni about the cities they are visiting. Visit their website to learn more and sign up.
