Originally certified as salmon safe in 2011, the UW rectified as a salmon save campus in 2016. Achieving the certification recognizes our efforts in irrigation efficiency, stormwater management, pesticide reduction and wetlands area management. The certification not only does something good for salmon and the environment, elements of the program help us reduce costs through resource and process efficiency. In addition, it affirms UW commitment and leadership in this area which helps us recruit and retain the best students, faculty, staff and donors who all want to be part of a university that has strong values in conservation and environmental stewardship.
