Each quarter, select HCDE courses host end-of-quarter events to showcase student work. All members of the HCDE and UW community are welcome to attend. Light refreshments are provided.


UX Prototyping Techniques (HCDE 451)

Instructor: Brock Craft, PhD
11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m., Fluke Hall Makerspace
Students will present prototypes and design ideas of innovative new user experiences. Topics range from health and wellness, iot devices for the home, improvements of campus life, and others.

Foundations of HCDE (HCDE 300)

Instructor: Kristin Dew
4 – 5:20 p.m., Sieg Hall third floor hallway
Students will be hosting a pop-up technofossil museum, a speculative exploration of technology design’s lasting impacts. Attendees can expect to see displays of digital artifacts from today as imagined from many years in the future when they’ve been found in the fossil record.

Physical Computing and Prototyping (HCDE 539)

Instructor: Andrew Davidson
6 – 8 p.m., The MILL (McCarty Hall Makerspace)
Explore Arduino-based interactive projects and talk to the creators. Projects include smart home device concepts, automated garden monitoring systems, interactive games, an instrumented kids rocket, and many more.

HCDE Master’s Capstone (HCDE 593)

In the two-quarter HCDE Capstone course, students investigate and
define a design problem and craft and execute innovative solutions. See their final designs at the HCDE Master’s Capstone Showcase.
