Spotlight on: Libraries’ Support

How can you help researchers who want to work openly?
I help researchers make their research data accessible to a public audience, through tools and tips during data collection, creating a data management plan, finding an appropriate data repository, helping with data documentation to bundle with their data, and more.

When should researchers get in contact with you?
Researchers can contact me at any stage of the research process! Good preparation can happen before data analysis has even occurred, but even if a project is complete, the library can help the researcher create appropriate documentation, identify where and how to publish and share their data, to connect their data to their publications, etc.

What’s one project you’re currently excited about?
I’m currently excited about our online Data Management Planning Workshop which teaches participants about good data management practices, things to consider as they get started on their research, how to share their data, and about the UW tools and services available to researchers working with data.
