Open Rank Position at Emerson College

Emerson College, the nation’s only four-year institution dedicated exclusively to majors in communication and the arts, is committed to an active, intentional, and ongoing engagement with diversity—in people, curriculum, and the college’s intellectual and geographic communities.

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) is soliciting applications from candidates who can contribute to excellence in diversity. The department seeks to fill a tenured (Associate), tenure-track (Assistant), or non-tenure-track (Term) full-time position; applications from faculty at all levels are encouraged.

The CSD prefers individuals with expertise in Communication Disorders, but will consider individuals in related fields. Candidates must be able to collaborate with the department’s curriculum committee to infuse multicultural approaches into core coursework. Tenured and tenure-track candidates will be expected to maintain a program of research. All candidates will be expected to engage in teaching and service. The teaching load may include graduate, undergraduate, on-campus and/or online courses. There may be opportunities to take on administrative roles with appropriate workload adjustments.  Start date is negotiable, beginning as early as August 20, 2020.

Required qualifications include:

  • A doctorate in Communication Disorders or a related discipline
  • Curricular experience with diverse populations
  • The ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and staff from various backgrounds
  • Tenured/tenure-track candidates must have an active research program which reflects scholarship in multiculturalism
  • ASHA certification and experience with online pedagogy are strongly preferred.

Application:

To apply, please submit:

  • A cover letter
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Teaching statement
  • Evidence of effective teaching
  • Most recent course evaluations
  • Tenured and tenure-track candidates must also submit a research statement

Please provide the names of three references who will be contacted when the applicant becomes a candidate for the position (not to be contacted without candidate’s approval). Each material should be saved as a separate PDF or Word doc. and uploaded into the upload section where it requests your CV. Although the upload section just shows “upload CV” – you should upload all materials in that section as the separate documents.

Questions about the position should be directed to Rhiannon Luyster, Ph.D. (Search Committee Chair) at rhiannon_luyster@emerson.edu. Review of applications will begin October 28, 2019 and will continue until the position is filled.
