Audiology Externship (Lincoln, NE)

Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialties, P.C. in Lincoln, NE is seeking an audiology extern for the 2019-2020 academic year. ENT Specialties is a busy practice of 3 Audiologists, 7 ENT physicians, and 2 Physician’s Assistants; providing an excellent well-rounded externship experience.

We provide a full scope of audiologic and rehabilitation services to children and adults including, comprehensive basic audiometry and immittance, OAE, ABR, hearing aid and bone-anchored device dispensing. Externs are allowed to take part in fitting and following-up with hearing aid patients independently. Vestibular experience can be coordinated with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Vestibular Lab.

Applicants must be a team player who have a strong desire to learn. They should also be able to perform testing and counseling with minimal supervision.

Stipend offered for the right candidate.

AuD Externship at University of Oklahoma

The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center/Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery is offering a fourth year externship for Au.D. students. We currently have five audiologists. We are active participants in the Cochlear Implant and Cleft Palate Teams on this campus. In addition, we provide ototoxicity monitoring for patients from our department’s head and neck surgeons and other oncology physicians. We also work closely with our neurotologist treating balance, hearing loss and surgical patients.

The extern participating in this placement will gain experience in diagnostic hearing evaluations, evoked potential, VNG, Rotary Chair, Computerized Dynamic Posturography (CDP), Cochlear Implant evaluation and mapping, hearing aid evaluations and fittings. In addition to the wide variety of experiences available, we work closely with the Otolaryngology Department and many physicians within the community.

This placement offers the motivated Au.D. extern the opportunity to become proficient in the many areas of Audiology and gain confidence in making treatment decisions. Additionally, the skills and professionalism learned while participating in and communicating with multispecialty teams will be invaluable to a future career in Audiology.

Pediatric Audiology Extern Opportunity

HOSPITAL AND ACADEMIC MEDICAL CENTER.

As a 4th Year Pediatric Audiology Extern at
Connecticut Children’s, you will have the opportunity to:
• Collaborate with a team of 13 Audiologists, Pediatric ENT Physicians, Speech-Language
Pathologists, and Community Early Intervention and Education Specialists, under a
family-centered model.
• Advance your pediatric testing skills with a diverse patient population from birth into early adulthood.
• Evaluate newborns via sedated and unsedated BAERs and DPOAEs.
• Observe vestibular evaluations using dynamic visual acuity screenings, VEMP, VNG, and VHIT in our brand new Vestibular Clinic.
• Participate in aural rehabilitation by selecting and fitting traditional hearing aids, bone conduction hearing aids, and cochlear implants.
• Work closely with our implant surgeons and audiologists throughout the entire hearing journey.

Audiology Externship at the University of Mississippi Medical Center

The Division of Audiology in the Department of Otolaryngology and Communicative Sciences at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) is now accepting applications for students interested in a well-rounded externship for the 2019-2020 academic year. Here at UMMC, we strive to provide externs with a diverse clinical and didactic experience serving individuals of all ages with hearing and balance disorders.

What you will learn:

  • Diagnostic evaluations for newborn, pediatric, adult and geriatric individuals, which includes both behavioral and electrophysiological testing
  • Selection, fitting, and verification of amplification devices, including hearing aids, assisted listening devices, bon conduction implants, and cochlear implants
  • Evaluation and treatment for patients with tinnitus
  • Evaluation and treatment of patients with dizziness, vertigo or imbalance
  • Intraoperative monitoring

Externs can expect to receive supervision by a range of experienced, licensed, doctoral level audiologists within a variety of clinical settings and facilities. Please note that supervision from an ASHA certified audiologist (CCC-A) is available, but not always guaranteed for all assigned rotations.

Externs receive an annual stipend.

Audiology Externship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center

Audiology Externship Program -provides a 1-year clinical audiology externship to students who have completed all academic coursework for their clinical doctorate in audiology and are eligible for the 1-year program. Training is conducted at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland. Applicants incur a 36-month active duty obligation following completion of the externship serving as an audiologist in the army.

Active duty or reserve audiologist-  You have the ability to protect our Soldiers’ ability to hear. As an audiologist and officer on the U.S. Army health care team, your duties will include performing hearing tests, developing improved communication strategies, evaluating protective devices and developing hearing conservation programs. Not only will you benefit from the unique experience, but you will also come to know the pride of serving your country.  We also offer 120K in student loan repayment for active duty or 50K in student loan repayment for the army reserves.
