Symposium Abstract Workshops and URP-SACNAS Abstract Open House

Interested in applying to the Undergraduate Research Symposium? Need help writing an abstract? Attend a URP abstract writing workshop! Workshops will answer the following questions: What exactly is an abstract? How do I write one? What information do I include? What information do I exclude? Upcoming workshops are scheduled for Monday, February 6 from 3:30 – 4:20 pm and Thursday, February 9 from 3:30 – 4:20 pm. You can register for a workshop here.

In addition to the abstract workshops, the Undergraduate Research Program and Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) are hosting an abstract open house on Wednesday, February 8 from 4:30-6:30 pm in HUB 145. Graduate students and URP staff will be on hand to offer feedback on abstract writing and drafts. All STEM undergraduate researchers interested in applying to the Symposium, SACNAS 2017, or other conferences are encouraged to attend. See the attached flyer for more information.

Center for Experiential Learning & Diversity (EXPD) Drop-in Hours

As you may know, the Undergraduate Research Program is part of the Center for Experiential Learning and Diversity (EXPD).  EXPD is made up of nine programs that emphasize community engagement (Carlson Center, Jumpstart UW, and the Pipeline Project), research (EIP, McNair, and URP), and merit scholarships (Global Opportunities, Mary Gates Endowment for Students, and the Office of Merit Scholarships, Fellowships, and Awards).

If you are interested in learning more about the basics of any or all of these programs, you can meet with an EXPD staff member during EXPD drop-in hours: Thursdays, 1-4 pm, 171 Mary Gates Hall.

You can also get updates via the EXPD facebook page.
