New Student Designed Living Learning Communities

Do you have a vision to build and engage a community here at the UW?

UW Housing & Food Services is looking for student proposals for Student Designed Living Learning Communities to host in HFS apartments for the 2019-20 Academic Year! These communities are focused on specific identities or interests, and allow students to live in an environment featuring year-long collaboration and mentorship. If you’re interested in learning how to design and propose your own Living Learning Community, attend one of the following information sessions:

  • Tuesday, December 4th at 7:00pm & 7:45pm in Alder Commons, Room 106
  • Wednesday, December 5th at 7:00pm & 7:45pm in Madrona Hall, Room 311
  • Thursday, December 6th at 7:00pm & 7:45pm in the HUB, Room 238

UWRA Scholarship in Aging – Deadline Jan. 28th

UWRA (University of Washington Retirement Association) Scholarship in Aging

Up to four $4,000 scholarships will be awarded to students pursuing research or careers related to aging. Scholarship funds will apply to student accounts for spring quarter.

Eligibility: Open to UW undergraduate, graduate and professional students currently enrolled at any UW campus. Students should have completed the first year of their program by the time they apply.

Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in and commitment to working with older adults (paid or volunteer)
  • Academic performance
  • Communication skills
  • Financial need

Requirements:

  • Application, available at
    uw.edu/uwra/scholarships-fellowships-in-aging/
  • Current unofficial UW transcript
  • Current academic year FAFSA on file with UW Office of Student Financial Aid
  • All materials DUE by 3:00 p.m. on January 28, 2016

The Center for Experiential Learning & Diversity (EXPD) is pleased to announce Winter Quarter introductory workshops on developing Integrative Knowledge E-Portfolios.  More details can be found below.  Please share widely with your students.

What’s an integrative knowledge e-portfolio and why should I make one? During this interactive workshop, you will answer these questions and gain an overview of building an online integrative knowledge portfolio, demonstrating your learning in and outside the classroom. Whether you are interested in developing an e-portfolio for a class, for potential employers to complement your resume, or as a way to document and reflect on your experiences, this workshop will provide you with a starting place. This workshop will:

  • Guide you through short hands-on activities that will allow you to begin identifying deep connections between your learning, your experiences and your life-goals
  • Share example integrative knowledge e-portfolios
  • Provide you with resources for creating your e-portfolio.
