The University of Washington offers MM and DMA degree programs in choral conducting, and is home of a thriving cohort of graduate students. All graduate students receive some scholarship or TAship funding while working towards their degree, and Seattle’s vast network of community and church choirs offer many employment opportunities off campus. Many recent graduates are working at tenure-track academic positions across the country or leading top community choirs or church programs.
For information about applying for graduate study, please contact Dr. Geoffrey Boers: firstname.lastname@example.org (Director of Choral Studies) or Dr. Giselle Wyers: email@example.com (Associate Professor of Choral Studies and Voice). Degree program sheets and advising information is available at the UW School of Music site.
For graduate choral conducting applicants, pre-audition videos are highly recommended (but not required). Formal invitations for a campus audition will not be mailed until January 1st, but those who submit pre-audition videos by November 15th will be given an indication about whether to apply online to the UW by the December 15th deadline and plan a campus audition, as soon as the videos are viewed. Please create a silent link to your YouTube video, or an invitation to a dropbox folder, and send it to Director of Choral Activities Geoffrey Boers (firstname.lastname@example.org).
